Uniform Policy

Coral Gables Preparatory Academy is a mandatory uniform school.

 SCHOOL DRESS CODE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (PreK – 5th Grade) 

  • TOPS: POLO SHIRT:
    • White, Red, Navy-Blue with embroidered logo  
    • An appropriate fit is of paramount importance, and a shirt must always be long enough to be tucked in and must not fit too snugly. 
  • BOTTOMS:
    • BOYS: Bermuda shorts or pants: Khaki or Navy-Blue    
    • GIRLS: Bermuda shorts, skorts, or pants: Khaki or Navy-Blue 
    • An appropriate fit is of paramount importance and must not fit too snugly. Bottoms must be worn at the waist with a belt if the bottoms have belt loops. 
  • OUTERWEAR:
    • SWEATERS: Navy-Blue Cardigan or Vest with embroidered logo  
    • SWEATSHIRTS: Navy-Blue with embroidered logo (may be purchased from PTSA Store) 
    • FLEECE JACKET: Navy-Blue with embroidered logo  
    • In keeping with our mandatory policy, we are strongly encouraging everyone to wear Navy-Blue jackets and/or sweaters in the event of cold weather. In case of extremely cold weather (under 50 degrees at 6:30 am), students are allowed to wear a plain, solid colored (red, white, or blue) long sleeve t-shirt under the CGPA polo; non-uniform colored cold weather jackets over the regulation blue sweater; or CGPA sweatshirt or fleece jacket.  
  • SHOES:
    • Tie shoes (including sneakers) or loafers are permitted. Shoes must have closed toes and backs. A separate pair of sneakers and socks is strongly recommended for physical education. Socks are always required.  

 SCHOOL DRESS CODE MIDDLE SCHOOL (6th-8th Grade) 

  • TOPS:
    • OXFORD- Long or short sleeve Light-Blue or Blue striped with embroidered logo  
    • RUGBY- Long or short sleeve White/Navy stripe with embroidered logo (FRIDAYS ONLY)  
    • Please keep in mind that an appropriate fit is of paramount importance, and a shirt must be long enough to be always tucked in and must not fit too snugly. 
  • BOTTOMS:
    • PANTS: Khaki or Navy-Blue 
    • BERMUDA SHORTS: Khaki or Navy-Blue (FRIDAYS ONLY) 
    • Bottoms must fit appropriately and must be worn at the waist with a belt. 
  • TIE: Navy/Red Stripe (OPTIONAL FOR GIRLS)  
  • OUTERWEAR: (May be worn over the regular uniform)
    • SWEATER: Navy Blue Cardigan or Vest with embroidered logo  
    • FLEECE JACKET: Navy-Blue with embroidered logo  
    • SWEATSHIRT: Navy-Blue with embroidered logo (may be purchased from PTSA Store) 
    •  In case of extremely cold weather (under 50 degrees at 6:30 am), students can wear non-uniform colored cold jackets over the regulation blue sweater, or a CGPA sweatshirt/fleece jacket with the school logo. 
  • GYM CLOTHES:
    • GYM SHIRT: Ash Grey with screen print  
    • GYM SHORT: Navy Blue Mesh with screen print  
  • SHOES:
    • Tie shoes or loafers are part of the uniform. Shoes must have closed toes and backs. Socks are always required. A separate pair of sneakers and socks are required for physical education. Sneakers (no higher than ankle height) will be allowed on Fridays with the use of rugby type shirts and Bermuda shorts.  
  •  Casual Friday Attire (Optional): Rugby Shirt and Bermuda Shorts  
  • Athletic Team “Game Day”: Students may wear jerseys or team t-shirts. Hats or caps are not allowed. Face painting and hair tinting are not allowed. 

SPIRIT DRESS DOWN DAY 

  1. Students may wear any type of pants, shorts or skirts on this day, but shorts and skirts must be of an appropriate dress code length. 
  2. Midriff, tank, or spaghetti strap tops are not allowed.  
  3. Cut-off clothing is not allowed.  
  4. Hats or caps are not allowed.  
  5. Clothing must be in good taste and not be see-through.  
  6. Shoes must conform to the regular dress code guidelines.  
  7. Pajamas, pajama pants, surgical pants, or loungewear of any kind are not permitted. Athletic Team “Game Day”: Students may wear jerseys or team t-shirts. Hats or caps are not allowed. Face painting and hair tinting are not allowed. 

NOTE: ALL CLOTHING MUST BE OF AN APPROPRIATE SIZE AND FIT CGPA DESIGNATED NON-UNIFORM DAYS  

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION GENERAL GROOMING:  

Students are expected to come to school with proper attention having been given to personal cleanliness, grooming, and neatness of dress. Students whose personal attire or grooming distracts the attention of other students or teachers from their school work shall be required to make the necessary alterations to such attire or grooming before entering the classroom or be sent home by the principal to be properly prepared for school.  

DRESS CODE ENFORCEMENT:  

The Administration reserves the right to determine if a student is dressed or groomed appropriately. Students, who in the judgment of the administration do not meet daily dress code or grooming requirements, will be issued a consequence ranging from warning to cafeteria duty or detention. Repeat offenders may receive more serious disciplinary consequences.
